The absolute minimum for eyelet curtains is 1.5 fullness, 2 times will look better. It partly depends on how you are making the eyelet heading - if you are using eyelet tape then it could well have a stated fullness. If you are using hand set eyelets there is a useful calculator at http://www.eyeletsareus.co.uk/curtain_calc/index.html

Remember to always make sure you have an even number of eyelets on each panel (even if you have to adjust the curtain width with the tape to make sure this is the case). Then the edges of the curtain will return properly.

You can download a copy of 'How To Make Eyelet and Tabtop Curtains' for free from this site at http://www.simplyfurnishings.com/acatalog/Curtain_Making.html

The Merrick & Day, Blinds, Curtains & Cushions book has detailed instructions for making high end eyelet curtains using both eyelet tape and metal pressed eyelets.

General information on eyelet pressing machines can be found by clicking here as well as recommendations from those who own industrial eyelet machines.
