I need to make a pair of doube-sided curtains with different fabics on either side, plus an interlined layer in the middle?  Should I machine sew the leading edges of fabric together for strength  :)then place the interlining between and interlock it at intervals?  Also, how do I do the bottom hems too - should the bottom be hand slip-stitched together, the same as the outside edges?  Help please!  Thanks, Louise P.

If you can get your hands on a copy of Merrick & Day's book 'Encylopaedia of Curtains' it has instructions on haw to make double sided interlined door curtains on p130.

Essentially you machine the 2 fabrics together down one long edge right sides together.

Then lay the interlining on the face fabric and lock in place. Make a single bottom hem across the face fabric and 'lining' fabric. Fold the 'lining' over the interlining and interlock half way across. Fold the rest of the 'lining 'fabric across and fold in raw edge. Handstitch the edges together.

A handmade heading like goblets or pinch pleat looks neatest on a double sided curtain.

Hi, thanks ever so much for this info.  I have the book you recommend and have now found the details in there too.  I am delighted and shall plan ahead with the project.  Very many thanks. Smiley
