| Square or rectangular cushions |
| If you are making cushions for the first time, it is wise to
start with a square or rectangular cushion and stick to simple designs and plain fabrics
to begin with. As a next step, by using different fabrics in different combinations, some
trimmings and a few basic sewing skills, you will be able to turn an ordinary cushion into
something really special. The design variations below may help to inspire your own
experimentation! |
| Using a monochrome colour scheme can
be highly effective. Why not personalise a cushion using initials embroidered in a
suitable thread - perhaps as a special gift or to personalise a child's bedroom. |
|
|
| Changing either the main face fabric or the
piping fabric will create a completely different appearance to the cushion. |
|
|
|
| Experiment by dividing the front of the cushion
cover into sections, joining co-ordinating or contrasting fabrics along these lines for
interesting effects. Apply trimmings or buttons for that little something extra. |
