Bordered cushions
There are two types of bordered cushion illustrated here. Both are very attractive and within each the scope for design variations is endless.
The first selection of cushions illustrated have a mitred border as an integral part of the cushion's front cover. The cushion pad could fill the whole of the cover, including the border, or a row of machine stitching could be run around the border line. In this case, the pad is inserted into the centre section giving a firmer, more padded effect to the cushion. Interlining the cushion also ensures that this 'border flap' has slightly more bulk and rigidity.

The alternative designs below illustrate the border flap that we referred to previously. However, these bordered cushions go one step further - we have applied a different fabric applied to the reverse side of the front and back sections of the cushion cover, to add interest to the borders. The second example demonstrates how a plain contrasting (or co-ordinating) inner border could be used to complement a large patterned fabric used for the front and back covers.
