Are you sure the ebook you are using came from this site? I have it and it does not refer to hobbled romans. I think your ebook may have come from a site called Alternative Windows, their web site is http://www.alternative-windows.com/ and there are contact details listed. They also run a forum including a section for help on their ebooks at http://www.alternative-windows.com/phpBB2/ I usually sew my rings on to the channels once the rods are in place. I use a strong thread (size 36) and make stitches that go through the ring, then through the fabric behind the rod for extra strength.
